HOTEL BERLIN EMERALD, BERLIN
The Hotel Berlin Emerald is a radical reworking of the former Stresemann St. high rise built in the early 1980s. As a renovation of an existing building, it is a startling example of how to incorporate functional art inside a residence, transforming what is considered a mundane building into something special. The defining aspect of the renovation is a multi-story walkable sculpture clad in bronze metal panels and transparent mesh on the main facade, connecting the two existing building structures and housing an observation deck with great views of Berlin.
The project was realized collaboratively with Lev Libeskind, Daniel Libeskind, and their respective studios.
