Zohar for Thorn
Thorn launched the Zohar, a unique architectural lantern with a tiltable LED engine, allowing freedom and innovation in lighting design, as well as easy integration into the landscape. With a modern textured black finish, Zohar offers a striking slim profile and elegant column package with continuous geometries from the lantern to the column.
Lev Libeskind says: “We wanted an architectural luminaire that would work harmoniously with the design of the projects our studios undertake worldwide, but which would also work in many other diverse settings. Thanks to Thorn’s expertise, urban developments around the world now benefit from a truly distinctive and high-performance architectural lantern with a transparency and geometry that reflects its contemporary spirit. I’m also happy to add that the luminaire is named after my eldest daughter!”
Zohar is ideal for urban applications demanding high performance with extraordinary style, including pedestrian areas, parks, urban streets and building surrounds. To ensure an efficient and comfortable light for the application, Zohar has a customizable optic with a choice of eleven light distributions and two enclosures. It is available as standard in 3330lm (40W) and 5833lm (59W), other lumen packages are available on request. With a 20-year 100 000-hour maintenance-free lifetime for both the LED and driver, Zohar delivers significant cost savings over its lifetime.
The project was realized collaboratively with Lev Libeskind, Daniel Libeskind, and their respective studios.
